POSITION TITLE: 2 x Dental Assistant / Trainee Dental Assistant

The Victorian Aboriginal Health Service Co-operative (VAHS) is looking to employ two Dental Assistant / Trainee Dental Assistants to work in their Oral Health Unit.

The role of the Dental Assistant / Trainee Dental Assistant involves assisting the Dentists and the Dental Therapist in the provision of Dental Services to the Victorian Aboriginal Community.

Experience preferred, but not essential. The VAHS provides on the job and external training to the successful applicant.

POSITION TITLE: 2 x Home Visiting Nurse

The Victorian Aboriginal Health Service Co-op Ltd (VAHS) is looking to recruit two Home Visiting Nurses to work for our new program The Australian Nurse Family Partnership (ANFP) in our Women’s and Children’s Unit.

The Australian Nurse Family Partnership Program is based on the Nurse-Family Partnership model of home-visiting developed in the USA by Professor Olds and the University of Colorado. The NFP offers a new approach to home visiting by providing a structured sustained program by skilled health professionals which starts during pregnancy and continues through until the child is 2 years old.

Each home visiting team will consist of a Home Visiting Nurse and Family Partnership Worker. Teams will be supported in their role by the Australian NFP Support Service who will provide training professional development and ongoing support including clinical supervision.

The successful applicants will need to be a registered nurse with a demonstrated experience working in community health or with families and possess a strong ability to build relationships with the families they visit.

POSITION TITLE: Family Partnership Worker

The Victorian Aboriginal Health Service Co-op Ltd (VAHS) is looking to recruit a Family Partnership Worker to work for our new program The Australian Nurse Family Partnership (ANFP) in our Women’s and Children’s Unit.

The role of the Family Partnership Worker will work closely with the Home Visiting Nurses and the identified families to ensure the effective operation of the home visits. The Family Partnership Worker will provide advice and assistance on a broad range of cultural issues and will ensure the observance of appropriate cultural protocols. The Family Partnership Worker will accompany the Home Visiting Nurses on their home visits to families and will have a liaison role with other agencies and organisations

    The successful applicants will possess the following:
  • Demonstrated experience in welfare, social support or health related issues.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the Aboriginal community.
  • Identifies and is well networked within the local Aboriginal community.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history, and current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people.
  • Intermediate word processing skills using all Microsoft Package Suite and the ability to use windows-based networked computers and applications.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence.
