Women’s and Children’s

Purpose/Profile:

The Women’s and Children’s Unit provides a range of services, including:

  • Koorie Maternity Service
  • Maternal Child Health Services: Key Ages and Stages and Immunisations
  • Ears, Nose & Throat Clinic and Audiology Services
  • Speech Therapy
  • Balert Gerrbik Koorie Families as First Educators
  • Paediatric Clinic
  • Aboriginal Health Checks (MBS item 715) for children and young people

Services are offered in conjunction with Aboriginal Health Workers

Referral process:

The VAHS Paediatric Clinic accepts referrals for specialist assessment and management of children with a range of medical, developmental and behavioural concerns.

In order to refer to the VAHS Paediatric Clinic, GPs or other medical professionals can refer using the VAHS Paediatric Referral form which can be found below:

Completed referrals can be emailed to:

New referrals are discussed weekly at our intake meeting.

If the referral is urgent or complex we encourage referrers to contact the women’s and

children’s unit on (03) 9419 3000 or paediatricreferrals@vahs.org.au

We also request Intake forms to be filled by Parents/Carers or Professionals involved in the care of young people. These can be found here.

Please note that the Women’s and Children’s Unit is specially designated for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander community only.
